Floor Management Rule

Floor Management

The platform allows you to define custom floor price rules to control the minimum CPM accepted in header bidding auctions. These rules are defined at scope to be re-used on any sites and can be fine-tuned by media type and size.

How to Create a Floor Rule

  1. Go to the Rules > Floor Price section in the menu platform.
  2. Click on "New rule" to open the rule creation form.

Step-by-Step

  • Identification

Give your rule a clear and descriptive name (e.g. my banner floor rule ).

  • Default Floor Price

Set a global default floor value. Currency adapts itself to the scope settings. This value applies unless a more specific rule (mediatype/size) overrides it.

  • Granular Rules (Optional)

Click "Add setting" to define specific floor prices for:

    • Mediatypes: Choose the mediatype format(s) the rule should apply to (e.g. banner).
    • Sizes (optional): Further narrow down the rule by creative size (e.g. 300x250).
    • Price: Set the floor price for this specific condition.

You can add multiple granular rules by repeating this step. You can also delete it with the bin icon.

💡 You must define at least one media type in each granular rule. Sizes are optional.

  • Dynamic Floor

By default, a dynamic floor mechanism is enabled. This ensures that the highest bidding price from the prebid auction is sent to the ad server as the floor price. This helps optimize competition and performance in GAM.

A toggle allows the user to disable dynamic floors if they prefer to rely solely on static pricing rules.

Functional Use

The price defined in a floor rule is used to construct a Prebid-compliant floor schema, which is injected into the auction request via the Prebid Floor Price Module to be sent to participating SSPs to enforce minimum pricing at auction level.

Saving the Rule

Once your rule is complete, click “Save rule” to apply it. The rule will immediately impact eligible adunits in the stacks where it is synced and deployed.

  • Default floor: The base CPM floor defined in the rule.
  • Sub: Number of specific sub-rules created for this rule (based on mediatype and size).
  • Used on: Indicates how many stacks currently use this rule.

Actions

  • Edit (✏️ icon): Opens the rule editor where you can update the default floor or add/edit granular rules.
  • Read-only (greyed out): “No floor price” cannot be edited
